Elizabeth Olsen assumes she might reprise her role as Scarlet Witch in Spider-Man 3 if rumors are true several MCU characters will be in it.
Scarlet Witch might also be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 3, Elizabeth Olsen teases. The actress is currently busy with the MCU as, while WandaVision kicks off Phase 4, she’s filming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in London. Production halted on the Benedict Cumberbatch and Sam Raimi sequel due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the Scarlet Witch actress has a little bit of free time on her hands to partake in the promotion of her ongoing Disney+ series.
The MCU is expanding its reach through a string of series exclusively for Disney+. But aside from that, the franchise itself is getting bigger as Marvel Studios properly tackles the multiverse. The idea was introduced in Phase 3 with films such as the original Doctor Strange and Ant-Man. As part of this new endeavor, there are upcoming projects expected to further explore the concept such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man 3. If the general assumption comes to fruition, WandaVision will as well.

Given these connections, not to mention Doctor Strange’s role in Spider-Man 3, many have wondered if Scarlet Witch will appear as well. When asked this question during a recent interview with Capital FM, Olsen didn’t deny the possibility, although she admits she’s unaware of some of the details. In any case, if “everyone’s” in Spider-Man 3, then Olsen’s assuming she’ll be in it, too.
I assume you might [see Scarlet Witch] if everyone’s in it, but I haven’t shown up to that party quite yet, I don’t think.
It’s worth noting much remains unknown about even Doctor Strange’s part in Spider-Man 3, though it only makes sense for the master of the mystic arts to help establish the link between that film and his own sequel. Perhaps it won’t be a prominent role, but considering how things are shaping up in the MCU, Strange may be the common denominator for all these multiverse-centric projects, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness functioning as the culminating story. In conjunction with that, while Scarlet Witch will appear in the Raimi sequel, there’s also no word if Strange will return the favor. However, a WandaVision video might be hinting at his presence.
Story-wise, it makes sense for Scarlet Witch to appear in Spider-Man 3, especially if she teams up with Doctor Strange in sorting out the MCU’s multiverse. Her actions in WandaVision, particularly her purported creation of the fantastical world of Westview, could be what kicks off a set of events that threatens the very fabric of reality, which would have ripple effects on succeeding shows and movies. Whatever the case may be, expect a clear narrative thread running through these MCU Phase 4 projects, all building towards an epic narrative pay-off.
