As January comes to a close a lot of new trailers for upcoming TV and film projects released, with premium streaming services like HBO Max and Disney+ in particular showcasing big-ticket programming for their respective digital platforms.

Here are all the biggest trailers, teasers and promos for the final week of January 2021, including for such series as RWBY, Black Lightning and Godzilla vs. Kong.

Black Lightning

The fourth and final season of Black Lightning is coming. In the recently released trailer, Jefferson Pierce declares he is retiring as a superhero due to the damage it’s done to his family. However, with Jefferson’s city of Freeland at risk once again, Black Lightning may have to recant his stance, especially as his surrogate father figure, Peter Gambi, implores him to stand up one last time and protect his hometown from evil.

Black Lightning stars Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce, Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce/Thunder, Christine Adams as Lynn Stewart, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias Whale and James Remar as Peter Gambi. Season 4 premieres Feb. 8 on The CW.


The CW’s Charmed reboot series has hit the ground running with its third season, as the entire magical world is at risk due to a secret society known as The Faction looking to steal raw magical energy for themselves. A trailer unveiled ahead of the Season 3 premiere recapped the first two seasons and sees the sisters learning they are magic’s last hope. However, to save the day, they may have to sacrifice their bond.

Charmed stars Sarah Jeffery, Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz, Rupert Evans, Valerie Cruz, Ser’Darius Blain and Ellen Tamaki. New episodes of Charmed airs on The CW on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Coming 2 America

33 years after the original 1988 comedy classic, Coming to America is getting a sequel on Amazon Prime Video. Cheekily titled Coming 2 America, the film reunites much of the original’s cast, including stars Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall. A television spot for the upcoming movie has Prince Akeem learn he has a son back in the United States and return to New York City with his best friend Semmi to find his heir.

Directed by Craig Brewer, Coming 2 America stars Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, Shari Headley, Wesley Snipes, James Earl Jones, John Amos, Teyana Taylor, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Paul Bates, Nomzamo Mbatha and Bella Murphy. The film arrives on Amazon Prime Video March 5.

Flash Facts

If there’s any one superhero in the DC Universe that has a history of delivering science lessons on the go, it’s The Flash. The Scarlet Speedster will serve as the guide to DC’s all-age friendly original graphic novel Flash Facts. Curated by The Big Bang Theory star and real-life neuroscientist Mayim Bialik, an animated trailer teases the short stories in the anthology, with iconic superheroes revealing entertaining science lessons while saving the day.

Curated by Mayim Bialik and written and illustrated by a roster of superstar comic book creators, Flash Facts goes on sale Feb. 2 from DC.

Godzilla vs. Kong

After years of steady build-up, Godzilla and King Kong are finally set to duke it out for the mantle of King of the Monsters this March in the aptly titled Godzilla vs. Kong. An explosive first theatrical trailer shows an out-of-control Godzilla wrecking havoc around the world, prompting humanity to turn to Kong to save them. This leads to fiery showdown in the streets of Hong Kong as Kong breaks out the big guns.

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry. The film arrives in theaters and on HBO Max March 26.


Following a reunion holiday special this past Thanksgiving, the fan-favorite cable network G4 is being revived both on television and streaming platforms this year. A new promo takes audiences on a trip down memory lane and through G4’s halcyon days. The revival has confirmed its two flagship series, Attack of the Show! and X-Play, will return this summer.

G4 is scheduled to return in summer 2021 with Attack of the Show! and X-Play.

HBO Max has been exceeding subscriber expectations, buoyed by its decision to debut new movies day-and-date with their respective theatrical releases throughout 2021. A new promo focuses on the movies slated to premiere on the premium streaming service this year and includes previously unseen footage from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.


Formally announcing the date CBS All Access will be rebranded Paramount+, a promo for the launch brings together some of the biggest titles for the digital platform. From Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to animated family fare like Paw Patrol, Paramount+ is pulling out all the stops to reposition itself in the middle of the streaming wars.

Paramount+ launches in the U.S. and Latin America on Thursday, March 4.

Raya and the Last Dragon

Disney Animation next feature film, Raya and the Last Dragon, is coming to Disney+ this March. The theatrical trailer unveils the fantasy world of Kumandra and its gorgeous Southeast Asian influences. The trailer showcases the eponymous warrior Raya and her dragon companion Sisu setting out to heal their fractured kingdom in time to face an ancient evil together.

Directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada from a script by Paul Briggs and John Ripa, Raya and the Last Dragon stars Kelly Marie Tran, Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Sandra Oh, Benedict Wong, Izaac Wang, Thalia Tran, Alan Tudyk, Lucille Soong, Patti Harrison and Ross Butler. The film arrives in theaters and on Disney+ Premiere Access March 5.

Salem’s unrelenting onslaught continues as RWBY returns for the second half of its eighth volume. With Salem targeting Penny, Ironwood may be the last line of defense to stop the villain from acquiring the power of the Winter Maiden, even as Ruby Rose scrambles to save the day.

Rooster Teeth Animation’s RWBY stars Lindsay Jones as Ruby Rose, Kara Eberle as Weiss Schnee, Arryn Zech as Blake Belladonna and Barbara Dunkelman as Yang Xiao Long. The show returns for the back half of Volume 8 on Feb. 6 on Rooster Teeth FIRST.

Shin Ultraman

The creative team behind Shin Godzilla is reuniting to cinematically reimagine another Japanese icon for the 21 century in Shin Ultraman. As a pair of alien monsters descend upon the Earth, the Science Special Search Party scramble to save the day, with the heroic Ultraman leaping into action to protect the planet from all manner of extraterrestrial threats.

Written by Hideaki Anno and directed by Shinji Higuchi, Shin Ultraman will premiere in Japanese theaters in 2021.

The Snoopy Show

For over 70 years, Charles Schulz’s beloved Peanuts franchise has thrilled fans in comic strips, animated specials and feature film. Apple TV+ is about to add to the franchise’s legacy with The Snoopy Show. The upcoming animated series has Snoopy and Woodstock lead the rest of the Peanuts gang on timeless adventures across the various seasons to embrace the wonders of suburban childhood.

The Snoopy Show stars Ethan Pugiotto, Terry McGurrin, Rob Tinkler, Wyatt White, Isabella Leo, Hattie Kragten, Isis Moore and Holly Gorski and Jonathan Philip Martin. The series premieres Feb. 5 on Apple TV+.

The CW is pulling out all the stops to promote Walker following a successful series launch. A wave of promos highlight different elements of the Texas Ranger’s return home after busting bank robbers in Austin. From being haunted by his wife’s murder to his unabashed cowboy roots, Cordell Walker has been modernized for a new generation and is quick with his fists as he keeps the peace.

Walker stars Jared Padalecki, Lindsey Morgan, Keegan Allen, Mitch Pileggi, Molly Hagan and Coby Bell. New episodes air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.


The core of Marvel Studios’ inaugural Disney+ series, WandaVision, has revolved around the mysterious television reality in which the titular Avengers have found themselves. The latest promo for the series brings in several returning Marvel Cinematic Universe characters in an extended scene of Monica Rambeau investigating a disturbance outside of the pocket universe. An additional sneak peek teases the more modern sitcoms that WandaVision will draw from in its second half.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. New episodes air Fridays on Disney+.

Young Rock

With Dwayne Johnson one of the most beloved public figures worldwide, the professional wrestler and actor is getting his own autobiographical seriesYoung Rock. Johnson will appear in all of the first season’s planned eleven episodes to recount tales from his high school and young adult life, and footage makes clear the series will play up the humor as Johnson gets his start in the wrestling world.

Created by Nahnatchka Khan and produced by Johnson, Young Rock stars Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant and Uli Latukefu as the titular role with Stacey Leilua Ata and Joseph Lee Anderson as his parents Ata and Rocky. Young Rock will premiere on NBC Feb. 16, 2021.
