Kat Dennings said it’s unlikely she will return as Darcy Lewis in Thor: Love and Thunder after reprising the role for Marvel’s WandaVision on Disney+.

Kat Dennings, who plays Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is unlikely to be cast in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Dennings reprised her role as Darcy in WandaVision Episode 4, “We Interrupt This Program,” marking her first appearance in the MCU since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. When IGN asked if she would return to the Thor films for Love and Thunder, Dennings replied, “Well, I have not gotten a call so I kind of doubt it since they’re shooting it right now so probably not.” She added, “But anything Marvel ever asks of me the answer’s always yes.”

Darcy was introduced to the MCU as a political science student interning for the astrophysicists Erik Selvig and Jane Foster when they first encountered the God of Thunder in 2011’s Thor. She popped up again two years later in Thor: The Dark World, helping Thor, Jane and Erik battle Malekith and the other Dark Elves. The character went on to return to school and earn a doctorate in astrophysics. Years later, in WandaVision, Darcy was recruited by S.W.O.R.D. to consult on a mysterious situation involving the city of Westview, NJ, ultimately discovering the existence of the bizarre sitcom reality known as WandaVision.

The fourth movie in the MCU’s Thor sub-franchise, Love and Thunder is being directed by Ragnarok helmsman Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great). The film will pick up in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, which concluded with Thor making Valkyrie the leader of New Asgard and setting off to travel across the universe with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

In addition to featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor and several actors from the Guardians of the Galaxy films, Love and Thunder will bring back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster for the first time since The Dark World. The movie will further adapt certain elements of the Mighty Thor comic books, in which Jane becomes a superhero with powers similar to Thor’s while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
