Retro gaming is more popular than ever as millions of gamers go back and relive some of the greatest video games the industry has to offer. The PlayStation Store has marked down dozens of classic titles until Feb. 10, so now is the perfect time to catch up on some of the best retro video games ever, including some that flew under the radar.
Here are a few classic games across a variety of genres to pick up during the PlayStation Store’s retro sale.
1. Castlevania Anniversary Collection
Castlevania has been at the forefront of the gaming world for generations. Although it’s not as prevalent as it used to be, the early games still hold up better than most of the era. The only problem is, tracking down all the individual titles can be financially draining. Thankfully, the Castelvania Anniversary Collection allows players to relive the franchise heyday without breaking the bank.

The Castlevania Anniversary Collection includes seven classic Castlevania titles, as well as The History of Castlevania: Book of the Crescent Moon and an English translation of Kid Dracula. It gives players hundreds of hours of vampire slaying goodness while giving them valuable insight into Castlevania‘s lineage.
The PlayStation Store currently lists the Castlevania Anniversary Collection at $4.99, 75 percent off its original price. It is one of the best deals currently available on the PlayStation Store and a great way for newcomers to jump into the long-running series.
2. The Warriors
The video game adaption of the 1979 cult film The Warriors is one of Rockstar’s most underrated titles. It follows the eponymous New York Street gang after a rival group frames them for murdering the city’s biggest crime boss. The Warriors must make their way back to their Coney Island hideout before the various street gangs take revenge for the kingpin’s murder.
The Warriors video game is more of a prequel to the film than an actual adaptation. It captures the events leading up to the murder and how the Warriors came to prominence in 1970s New York. There are even a few flashback events that give players insight into each member’s history and how they joined the gang. The Warriors is a fantastic action-adventure title that is a must-play for any fans of the original film.
Players can grab The Warriors for $8.99 in the PlayStation Store until Feb. 10.
3. Grim Fandango: Remastered
Grim Fandango is one of many great adventure games by the legendary Tim Shafer. Although it sold poorly upon release, the unconventional title became an underground phenomenon and is now highly regarded within the gaming community. The 2015 remaster gave gamers the same delightful experience in a brand new light.
Players take the role of Manny Calavera, an undead travel agent who gets tangled up in a grand conspiracy that puts his eternal rest in jeopardy. He must get to the bottom of the elaborate scheme before he is doomed to everlasting purgatory. The game combines Latin American folklore with the classic neo-noir aesthetic, creating an incredibly unique adventure title that fans won’t soon forget.
Video game fans can pick up Grim Fandango: Remaster for only $3.74 until Feb. 10 and relive one of the games that helped define a generation.
4. Dark Cloud 2
The PlayStation 2 is home to some of the best RPGs in gaming history. Unfortunately, many were overshadowed by bigger titles and fell into obscurity over time. Although mostly forgotten, Dark Cloud 2 is an extremely underrated gem that never got the credit it deserved.
Dark Cloud 2 tells the story of a young inventor named Max who receives a mysterious red stone after an evil creature known as Griffon destroyed most of the world. Shortly after receiving the stone, Max finds out that Griffon is searching for the gem and will stop at nothing until it’s in his possession. Max must help rebuild the world while protecting the mysterious gem from Griffon and his evil army.
The game does an amazing job incorporating city-building elements within its traditional RPG gameplay, further distinguishing itself from similar games in the genre. It’s also a refreshing change of pace from the typical RPG format. Fans of old school action RPGs looking for something fresh and unique should look no further than Dark Cloud 2. The game is just $5.99 until Feb. 10, which is 60 percent off its usual price.
