The dark side of social media and online fame is explored in the chilling trailer for Shudder’s original horror movie Shook.
With online celebrities becoming increasingly more prominent throughout social media and the wider public awareness, the dark side of digital fame is explored in Shudder‘s upcoming original horror movie Shook.
Written and directed by Jennifer Harrington, the film has a social media star named Mia become targeted by an online campaign that forces her to undergo a gauntlet of brutal tests to survive. Ahead of the film’s Feb. 18 premiere, Shudder has released a red-band trailer and poster for the movie.
As Mia struggles to survive the harrowing series of trials, she begins to question exactly how real all of this nightmarish experience truly is and how much her ordeal is simply for her mysterious tormentor’s twisted entertainment.
Included as part of the AMC+ bundle, Shudder has steadily put out acclaimed originals in horror television and film while curating a line of existing, fan-favorite content. The premium streaming service launched in 2015 and began to expand beyond North America to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand in 2020.
Written and directed by Jennifer Harrington, Shook stars Daisye Tutor, Emily Goss, Nicola Posener, Octavius J. Johnson, Stephanie Simbari, Grant Rosenmeyer and Genelle Seldon. The film premieres Feb. 18 on Shudder.
