A new character poster for The CW’s upcoming series, Superman & Lois, put Tyler Hoechlin’s scruffier version of the Man of Steel in the spotlight.
A new poster for Superman & Lois put the spotlight on the Man of Steel’s facial hair.
Superman & Lois‘s Twitter account debuted the new Superman poster online, featuring Tyler Hoechlin in his full Superman suit. Hoechlin is also sporting a five o’clock shadow, an intriguing departure from previously clean-shaven incarnations of Clark Kent.
Hoechlin previously discussed how his version of the Man of Steel could be divided into five distinct versions. “I play it either Superman as the symbol and no one knows who he is, or when he’s closer to people and they know who he is. The other ones are the extreme version of Clark Kent, and then there’s a Clark Kent where they know he’s Superman, but right now he’s playing Clark,” he explained.

“Then there’s the one in the center that I really don’t have a name for,” he stated. “It’s just genuinely who he is, just as a person. It’s who he is. It doesn’t have a name, but it’s when he’s at his most comfortable, like with this family and they know who he is and he can be himself.”
Superman & Lois takes place in the wake of The CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover and finds Clark Kent and Lois Lane returning to Smallville to raise their teenage sons. The series premiere will be a two-hour event, with a special titled Superman: Legacy of Hope taking place after its 90-minute pilot.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series premieres Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
