An official description for The Amazing World of Gumball Movie reads as follows:

The Amazing World of Gumball Movie (working title) Produced out of EMEA, the upcoming TV movie is based on the hit Cartoon Network series The Amazing World of Gumball, which follows the hilarious misadventures of Gumball Watterson and his goldfish best friend, Darwin.

Created by Ben Bocquelet, The Amazing World of Gumball premiered on Cartoon Network on May 3, 2011. Starring the characters of Gumball and Darwin Watterson, the show ran for 240 episodes across six seasons, concluding on June 24, 2019 in the United States (and on Sept. 12, 2019 in the United Kingdom) with “The Inquisition.” There have also been a number of spinoff miniseries, including the currently-ongoing Gumball Chronicles. Additionally, BOOM! Studios debuted an Amazing World of Gumball comic book series in 2014.

Prior to WanerMedia and Cartoon Network’s announcement today, the idea of an Amazing World of Gumball film had been floated in the past. Bocquelet expressed interest in a movie as far back is 2017, though for a long time, it was unclear if such a thing would actually come to pass. That being said, following the premiere of “The Inquisition,” Bocquelet did say that it was not his intention to end Gumball on a cliffhanger, and that things would be resolved should a film be greenlit. However, while the project is now officially in the works, it is not currently known when exactly it will hit screens.
