A Netflix trailer announces the release date for Jupiter’s Legacy, a superhero series based on Mark Millar and Frank Quitely’s Image Comics title.
Netflix has released a teaser trailer announcing when Jupiter’s Legacy, a live-action adaptation of Mark Millar and Frank Quitely’s Image Comics series, will debut on the streaming platform.
The 30-second video begins with a voiceover stating, “One day you’re gonna be stronger than anyone else in the world,” as a symbol spirals in the dark background. “Every evil you can imagine is gonna rise up against mankind. Not for justice… for vengeance. And you’re gonna be the future.” We are then greeted with the official Jupiter’s Legacy title treatment and its release date on May 7.
Jupiter’s Legacy is one of many Mark Millar projects Netflix is adapting after the streamer purchased his Millarworld imprint in 2017. An announcement of the first slate of projects based on Millarworld comics included series for Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus, as well as films based on Empress, Huck and Sharkey the Bounty Hunter.
Creators Mark Millar and Frank Quitely serve as executive producers on Jupiter’s Legacy along with Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Dan McDermott, Steven S. DeKnight, James Middleton and Sang Kyu Kim.
The synopsis for Jupiter’s Legacy can be found below.
After nearly a century of keeping mankind safe, the world’s first generation of superheroes must look to their children to continue the legacy. But tensions rise as the young superheroes, hungry to prove their worth, struggle to live up to their parents’ legendary public reputations — and exacting personal standards.
Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy stars Josh Duhamel as The Utopian, Ben Daniels as Brain-Wave, Leslie Bibb as Lady Liberty, Elena Kampouris as Chloe Sampson, Andrew Horton as Brandon Sampson, Mike Wade as The Flare, Anna Akana as Raikou and Matt Lanter as Skyfox. The series premieres May 7 on Netflix.
