HBO Max releases a new trailer for the upcoming Gossip Girl revival that updates the original CW series for the age of social media.
HBO Max released a new trailer for the upcoming Gossip Girl revival.
The trailer introduces the new characters and explores the premise of the eponymous Gossip Girl, which — in the revamped series — is now an Instagram account used to spy on students and expose their personal lives.
Gossip Girl is based on the novel series written by Cecily von Ziegesar that center on Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen, played by Leighton Meester and Blake Lively, respectively, in the original CW series. The 2007 series’ creators — Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Joshua Safran — will be returning for the reboot, with Safran serving as the new showrunner.
Nine years ago, the original Gossip Girl website shut down. But after a new generation of New York’s young elite takes control of private school Constance Billard, the notorious blogger remerges as the number one source into their scandalous lives.
Gossip Girl stars Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak and Savannah Lee Smith. The series premieres July 8 on HBO Max.
